Just a quick blog post to let you know that for all of our managed IT support contracts we pushed our normal patching process forward to ensure everything was fully patched over the weekend due to the outbreak of the WannaCry cyber attack.
In reality we probably didn’t have to as the patches were actually released back in April and we applied them as soon as they came out – but it was a better safe than sorry move and we’re happy to report we’ve not had one customer hit with the WannaCry cyber attack.
This ransomware attack made headline news and is well known, however these are very common and you do need to remain vigilant when opening attachments on emails or downloading files. If you’re not aware we wrote an article on what ransomware attacks are last April which you can read here.
All of our managed support customers have Webroot antivirus and Malwarebytes Premium installed at no extra cost which will help mitigate a lot of problems but you do also need to exercise caution. If in doubt, give us a call and we can have a look at it for you.
